Call for Presentations for the “Workshop on Blue Growth and Innovative ideas”

organised by the European Young Scientists and Technologists (EuYmast)

 

The Origins

The European Young Scientists and Technologists forum was created by EMA members in 2010 and originated conclusions that were successfuly mentioned by the European Commission Communication on Developing a Maritime Strategy for the Atlantic Ocean Area.

 

Why the Sea Sector?

The Sea is the new frontier for enterprises, research and innovation and entrepeneurship and so it is being understood by multiple sectors. In this sense, the Commission Communication on Blue Growth states specific sectors to be developed such as short-sea shipping (including logistics), coastal tourism (from sustainable concerns to gastronomy), offshore wind energy (from optical cables to electric engineers to robotics and ICT deployment in the sea), desalination (concerning hydrology and desertification as well as water management) and use of marine resources in pharmaceutical and cosmetic industries. However, there are many more sector activities that will be developed in the near future.

 

Workshop structure, when and where…

The workshop will be divided in two parts:

1. Institutions will present the priorities and opportunities in European investment in Blue Growth economy and Marine sciences communication and knowledge tranfer

2. EMA members and other proposers will hav the opportunity to present their innovations and entrepreneurial ideas. This will give the EMA members a chance to know what is being prioritised in Europe, as well as to present the related entrepreneurial and innovative ideas being proposed by young scientists and technologists.
