Tiago Garcia just joined the EurOcean team in Lisbon. Tiago was the successful candidate for the FCT funded fellowship position and he is already working as our newest Science Officer.

Tiago's primary role will be in relation to managing the financial and administrative issues for the Foundation and Centre as well as the European Projects. He will also contribute to the communications activities and will doubtlessly get involved in many other tasks during his time with us.

Tiago has a Masters in Coastal and Marine studies, so is quite familiar with the marine sphere and also European FP projects. He was involved in several National- and European-wide coastal zone management and coastal hazards projects as a researcher in the University of Algarve, in the Portuguese National Laboratory of Civil Engineering and in the University of Azores. Apart from his own research he was responsible for the science communication tasks as well as for the coordination of study site applications. Tiago is also experienced as a project manager and team lead in the private sector, namely in coastal engineering consultancy and in the translation industry.
