OPENING OF A COMPETITION
FELLOWSHIP IN SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY MANAGEMENT (BGCT)

EurOcean – the European Centre for Information on Marine Sciences and Technology, as part of the protocol established with one of its members, the Fundação para a Ciência e a Tecnologia, IP (FCT), is opening a competition, in order to award a fellowship (BGCT) in science and technology management, that will be financed through FCT, with Portuguese national funds from and the Ministry of Science, Technology and Higher Level Education (FCT/MCTES) in the following area:
Scientific Area: Ocean Science and Technology management
Applicants: The minimum requirements are a master or degree in Marine Sciences or a related discipline. This application is open to Portuguese and European Union citizens as well as those from outside the European Union.
Work Plan: The successful applicant will join the EurOcean team and will focus their training activities on the area of financial and administrative management in relation to both EurOcean itself and projects funded by the European Union. In addition there will be training in relation to communications on Marine Science and Technology in an international context.
Location: Activities will be carried out at the EurOcean offices, within the FCT buildings inAv. D. Carlos I, 126 – 7º; 1249-074 Lisbon, Portugal
Selection Process: The selection will be based on an evaluation of the candidate´s Curriculum Vitae, a written exam in English and an interview. (See full details in attached file)
Candidates should demonstrate the following skills:
- Relevant degree of master on Ocean Science and Technology
- Practical knowledge related to administrative and financial management within an organisation operating under Portuguese law, including that related to projects financed by the European Union
- Familiarity with the development and implementation of science and technology communication strategies.
- Familiarity in the development and dissemination of content through web sites and social media platforms.
- Competence in spoken and written English
- Competence in spoken and written Portuguese
- Availability for foreign travel in Europe
- Planning and organisational skills
- Ability to work independently and on one´s own initiative
Desireable Skills:
- Experience working in a multidisciplinary and International environment related to the management of projects funded by the European Union
- Experience in the development and use of relational databases.
Duration of the Fellowship: This is a fulltime position and the fellowship Grant will have a duration of 12 months, with the possibility of renewal up to a maximum of four years, with a starting date in September 2016.
