The Marine Knowledge Gate 1.0 (EurOcean_KG) is an upgraded version of the previous European Marine Research Funded Projects (EurOcean_MaP) InfoBase that, through EurOcean's participation in the MarineTT Project, has been greatly improved in terms of available and additional information and on search capabilities targeting different audiences. It is an innovative online tool dedicated to transfer information on European funded marine research projects and their Knowledge Outputs (KOs). EurOcean_KG covers research projects partly or entirely related to marine science and technology, with exclusively ‘freshwater' projects not being considered. KOs had been surveyed from FP6&FP7 project coordinators, analyzed and harmonized, and finally further validated by a group of European experts.

EurOcean_KG provides access to information on projects funded by COST, EUREKA, EUROCORES (ESF), INTERREG III, 6th Framework Programme (FP6), 7th Framework Programme (FP7), LIFE and SMAP, summing up a total of 1278 projects and 593 KOs (from FP6&FP7 projects) that are already available for consultation. It includes (according to official sources of information) a complete list of the FP6 funded marine projects as well as the midterm list of the FP7 funded marine projects.

The friendly-user interface and its advanced search functionality provide the user with a simple and efficient mode of search. In addition to the former searches by project or programme, this upgraded tool also allows the user to search by institution, knowledge type, potential end user and sectors to potentially benefit from an specific KO.

EurOcean_KG aims to facilitate access to information related to the European funded marine research projects and to enhance communication and transfer of knowledge among the different actors working in this field. By exposing this information, EurOcean_KG promotes the market take-up of innovation and hence contributing to HORIZON 2020's objectives and to the European Maritime Policy.
